An American woman's temperance organization formed as a result of the Women's Temperance Crusade which began in December 1873 at Hillsboro, Ohio. Older by 20 years than the Anti-Saloon League the WCTU's leadership was female. The two organizations while separate shared a common goal - destroying the traffic in alcoholic beverages. |
