Robert Edmund

Robert W. Edmund, appointed to the Board in January 2008, serves as the Director of Policy and External Relations with the Ohio Business Roundtable. This position enables him to shape Ohio‘s public policy in key areas such as education and health care. He formerly was partner in the labor and employment department of Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur LLP where his duties included defending employers against discrimination and wrongful discharge lawsuits, agency charges and arbitrations. He frequently lectures and writes on a variety of labor and employment topics and is an adjunct professor at Capital University Law School.

Mr. Edmund has substantial experience counseling employers on a wide variety of labor and employment matters including non-competition agreements; unfair labor practice charges; union campaigns; Family and Medical Leave Act obligations; employee and executive terminations, discipline, and severance arrangements; and other issues.

Rob�s professional activities include membership in the Columbus Bar Association and service on two committees, membership in the Ohio State Bar, American Bar and Federal Bar associations, and participation in the Society for Human Resource Management. He is the 2008 recipient of the Ohio State Bar Foundation Outstanding Community Service Award for district 7 and was named one of Business First‘s Forty Under 40 in 2007.

To aid civic and charitable organizations, Rob serves as a trustee on the United Way of Central Ohio board, is a member and former president of the board for the Columbus Early Learning Centers and serves on the board for Directions for Youth and Family Services.

Rob received his law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School and received his bachelor‘s degree, summa cum laude, in political science and philosophy, with honors, from The Ohio State University.
