Sonya L. Higginbotham

Sonya L. Higginbotham, appointed to the Library board in August 2006, is the director of corporate communications at Worthington Industries. Her responsibilities include employee communications, public relations, marketing, special events and the charitable giving program for Worthington Industries.
Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Worthington Industries is the country's leading intermediate steel processor and a leading manufacturer of metals related products, with annualized sales of approximately $3 billion. Worthington employs approximately 8,000 people in over 60 facilities around the world.
Sonya is active in a number of local organizations, serving on the board of Junior Achievement of Central Ohio, as a board member of Quest Community Church and past president of the Columbus Chapter of the Association of Women in the Metal Industries. She also provides volunteer service for Meals on Wheels.
Sonya graduated from Otterbein College in 1998 with a bachelor’s in organizational communications and Franklin University in 2004 with a master’s in marketing and communication. Sonya is married to husband, Carl, who is the marketing manager at WOSU Public Media, Columbus’ local PBS and NPR affiliate. Together they have a one-year-old son named Ayden.
