Ohio eBook Project: FAQ

Available Formats

The following formats are available for check out through the Ohio eBook Project:

1. OverDrive WMA Audiobook (WMA requirements)
2. OverDrive MP3 Audiobook (MP3 requirements)
3. Adobe PDF eBook (PDF requirements)
4. Adobe EPUB eBook (EPUB requirements)
5. MobiPocket eBook (MobiPocket requirements)
6. OverDrive Music (Music requirements)
7. OverDrive Video (Video requirements)

Requirements for Computer Use

In order to play these formats on your computer, you will need one of the following software packages downloaded and installed on your computer:

1. OverDrive Media Console for WMA, MP3, music and video titles
2. OverDrive Media Console for Mac for MP3 titles (using an Apple computer)
3. Adobe Reader or Adobe Digital Editions for PDF titles
4. MobiPocket Reader for MobiPocket eBook titles

Requirements for Use with Portable Devices

In order to transfer eBooks or eAudiobooks to a portable device, you will need one or more of the following software packages downloaded and installed on your computer:

1. One of the software packages mentioned above
2. iTunes (if transferring to an iPod shuffle)
3. QuickTime (for Apple devices other than the iPod shuffle)
4. A compatible MP3 player or portable device or a compatible eBook reader*

Note: For devices that are compatible with the Mobipocket format, check here. The Amazon Kindle is not currently compatible with the Ohio eBook Project.

Loan Rules

1. Using your library card number, you can check out 10 Ohio eBook Project items at a time.
2. If an item you are interested in is not available for checkout, you can place your name next on the list by clicking "Join the Waiting List." When the item is available for you to checkout, you will receive an email and have 3 days to checkout the item. 
3. At check-out, you will have a choice of either a 7 or 14 day loan period for all materials. A banner will appear on your digital copy letting you know your item's due date. When your loan period ends, your checked out items will be automatically returned to the library, therefore there are no fines associated with this service!
4. You may not renew an item through the Ohio eBook Project, but if a title is available, you can check it out as many times as you would like.

My Digital Account

To download titles, place holds or view the titles you have checked out, you will need to login to your digital account. All you need is your Westerville Library card number. Note: This account is managed separately from your regular library card account.

Library Resources

If you don‘t own a computer, you can use the computers in our Technology Center to view and transfer Ohio eBook Project titles to supported devices.
