After 28 years of service to the Westerville Public Library, Don W. Barlow will be retiring this year as Executive Director. Last fall, the Library's Board of Trustees began the search for a new leader by hiring Bradbury Miller Associates
, an executive recruitment firm that specializes in locating the best and brightest from the world of libraries. The firm gathered input from the library's board, staff and community representatives to better understand the area's needs and the issues facing the library. The information was used to develop a national recruiting effort that included advertisements in job- and library-related websites and professional publications, as well as promotion through social media.
The board received 47 applications in the national search process. Over several months, that pool was narrowed to the finalists by a special Library Board search committee.
