Decide which publishing avenue is the right fit for you and your book. Determine a realistic budget for your project, identify ways to save time and money, and discover the importance of a marketing strategy.

- Types of editing and when to hire a pro
- Book rights, copyrights and protecting your intellectual property
- Book proposals
- ISBN numbers: To buy or not to buy?
- Book layout and design
- Pros and cons of different formats (ebook, paperback, hardback)
- Getting your book found: the importance of BISAC
Presentation will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A. Handouts will be provided.
About the Series

About the Presenter
Award-winning essayist and author Juli Ocean writes creative nonfiction, essays, novels, novellas, novelettes, and plays. As a published writer for over a decade, she led writing groups in Delaware and Franklin counties, within the faith community and with survivors of human trafficking and domestic abuse.
Juli began publishing her own books several years ago, a personal collection of ebooks and paperbacks, currently available on Leading the charge, she encouraged a select group of writers to publish their works independently.
As a professional ghostwriter and writing mentor, Juli's experience includes creating book proposals for traditional publishers and working with numerous platforms which includes CreateSpace (now KDP), Kindle Direct Publishing, Kobo, Smashwords, Lulu, and Xulon. Additionally, she taught an 8-week course, Writing for Publication, at Vineyard Community Center.
Juli writes fiction under the pen name J E Ocean and non-fiction under her own name. She currently lives in Central Ohio. Learn more.
