Westerville, OH – The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the Westerville Public Library by Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to Dan Griscom, Fiscal Officer, and the Accounting Department designated by the government as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR.
Earlier this year, the Auditor of State Dave Yost announced that the Westerville Public Library qualified for the Auditor of State Award with Distinction.
Serving in his role since 2014, Griscom has worked tirelessly to ensure sound fiscal control and financial practices for the Library. “With over 30 years of experience with Ohio public school districts prior to joining the Westerville Public Library, Griscom has proven time and again to be an excellent steward of taxpayer dollars,” says Erin Francoeur, Executive Director of the Westerville Public Library. “This is a top accomplishment for Dan and for the Library.”
Jack Shinnock, President of the Library Board of Trustees says, “After Dan was hired, the Library Board challenged him to improve our financial reporting to ensure accountability and transparency. Dan and his staff worked very hard to meet this goal, and this Award evidences his team’s success. The Library Board is pleased to receive this recognition.”
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
