Begin Your Search

Search the Catalog

  1. Open your Internet browser. (Ex. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
  2. Go to www.westervillelibrary.org.
  3. Type what you want in the search bar and click FIND IT!
  4. For example, if you want books about dinosaurs, type DINOSAURS into the search bar. If you want books by Shakespeare, type SHAKESPEARE or WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE in the search bar.
  5. Look for the following: TITLE, AUTHOR, AVAILABILITY*.
  6. If you want to find the item on the shelf, look for the LOCATION and CALL NUMBER.
  7. If the item you want isn't currently available, try reserving it!

* Note: Availability refers to whether the item is on the shelf and available to checkout. Please see the table below for further information about availability and an item's status.

Item Status

When searching the catalog, you may come across items that show an unfamiliar “status.” An item’s status may show as any of the following:

StatusDefinition
AvailableThe item is on the shelf and available for reserve or check out. Disclaimer: This does not guarantee that you will receive the item if you place a reserve. We may be unable to locate the item.
BilledAnother patron has been billed for the item, due to failure to return it within 40 days of its due date.
In TransitThe item is being delivered to a patron from another library.
MissingThe library has been unable to find the item. If it is not found within 40 days, it will be removed from the system.
Non-CircThis item is restricted to in-library use. You must come to the library to view this item.
Off-SiteThe item is checked out to a patron from another library.
On HoldshelfThe item is on hold for a patron. That patron will have 4 days to check out the item before it moves on to the next person in line or is placed back on the shelves.
Recently ReturnedThe item has recently been checked in and may be on a cart awaiting reshelving.
