Library Link: Frequently Asked Questions

Library Link is a service to the Westerville community being provided through the Outreach Department of the Westerville Public Library. The primary function of Library Link is to make daily deliveries of Westerville Library materials to any school building in the Westerville District. Feel free to give us a call at 614-882-7277 ext. 144 if you have any additional questions.

Library Link Basics:

Who? Students, faculty and staff can receive materials

What? Delivery and pick-up of Westerville Public Library books, magazines, videos, DVDs, CDs, CD-ROMs or audio books (limit of 10 each of media materials)

When? Weekdays during school hours

Where? To any school building in the Westerville district*

How? Apply for a Westerville Library card by getting an application from your school office or librarian, or by coming into the library with your parent or guardian.

*Which schools receive the service?

High Schools: Westerville Central, Westerville North, Westerville South
Middle Schools: Blendon, Genoa, Heritage, Walnut Springs
Elementary Schools: Alcott, Annehurst, Central College, Cherrington, Emerson, Fouse, Hanby, Hawthorne, Huber Ridge, Longfellow, Mark Twain, McVay, Pointview, Robert Frost, Whittier, Wilder Also, St. Paul‘s Catholic School and Central College Christian Academy, for a total of 25 schools.

How often does Library Link visit the schools?

Each of the 25 schools listed above will be visited every single school day. Even if there are no materials to be delivered to a particular location, we will still be stopping to pick up any materials that may have been returned, as well as answer any questions or address any concerns teachers or students may have.

Are there any items you will not deliver?

Art prints will not be delivered through Library Link. All other circulating materials are available for delivery.

Is there a set delivery schedule? If so, what is it?

We have a delivery schedule, but it is subject to change. There will be morning and afternoon deliveries, but the order of these deliveries are dependant upon a number of factors. The only certainty is that each school will be visited every day that class is in session.

Does Library Link distribute library card applications?

Applications are available upon request. You can also get a library card by coming into the library with your parent or guardian.

How long are items requested through Library Link going to remain at the schools for pick-up?

All items will be available for 4 school days, counting the delivery day.

How long can I keep materials delivered through Library Link?

Loan times for delivered library materials will remain the same as the loan times for items checked out at the library in person. Loan periods for items are:

28 day loans: most books
14 day loans: new books, holiday books, magazines, CDs, CD-ROMs, audio books
7 day loans: videos, DVDs

Whom should I call if I have any questions concerning Library Link?

If you have any questions, please contact Julie Kerns at 614-882-7277 ext. 144. Julie is the coordinator of the Outreach Department, and she will be happy to assist you any way she can.

Why didn‘t the item I requested come to my school?

  1. If your library account has a fine over $5, we will not deliver items to you. (You must pay your fine before deliveries will resume.)
  2. We cannot deliver more than 10 of each media item at a time.
  3. If you have requested items after using our online library card application, items will not be delivered to you until you come to the library with your parent or guardian to verify your information. If you cannot come to the library, you can get an application for a library card from your school and a card will be mailed to you.
  4. Art prints can not be delivered through Library Link. (All other circulating materials are available for delivery.)
