December 2, 2019 - You now need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to access your library card account. Your PIN number has been automatically set to the last 4 digits of your phone number (as it appears on your account).
Forgot your PIN? To change your PIN to a 4 to 8-digit number of your choice, follow these instructions:
Additional Security
The privacy of your library card account is a responsibility we take very seriously. This change will give you an additional level of protection. Similar to a password, your PIN number should be kept secret because it allows access to your personal information, borrowed items, requested items, and any fines or fees owed.
Future Opportunities
With 98% of Ohio public libraries currently requiring PIN numbers, this feature has become an industry standard. Making this change now will allow the Westerville Public Library to pursue new services and technology to better meet the needs of our community.
Convenience
If you know your library card number and PIN number by heart, you will no longer be required to have your physical library card number present to borrow items at the self-checkout machines.
