Become a Volunteer

Why Volunteer?

Did you know that volunteers gave nearly 5,500 hours of their time to the Westerville Public Library in 2011?

Volunteer assistance with ongoing, weekly tasks is always greatly appreciated by Library staff. By donating a couple of hours of your spare time on a weekly basis, you can contribute to the Library in valuable ways.

  1. Shelving recently returned materials
  2. Assisting Outreach staff who deliver materials to homebound persons
  3. Helping with special projects
  4. Assisting with library events and programs
  5. Helping to process or repair library materials
  6. and more!

Volunteering as an Adult (Ages 18+)

Thank you for your interest in helping the library! The library is currently working with many dedicated individuals to accomplish daily tasks and special projects. If you are interested in getting involved, please download the volunteer application and return it to the Local History department. We will contact you when we are again in need of assistance.

Volunteers as a Teen (Ages 12 to 18)

Students age 12-18 are eligible to serve as Teen Volunteers.

During the school year, Teen Volunteers assist at children’s events and can also log hours shelving books and DVDs. During the summer, Teen Volunteers help run the Summer Reading Program and assist at children's events. Volunteers also serve as advisers to the Teen Librarian.

Applications are available at the Youth Services desk, in the Teen Center and online.

For more information, contact Teen Services or visit the teen blog.
