(Westerville, Ohio) --- Westerville organizations are recruiting diversity, inclusion and equity professionals to advance community efforts that promote gender, generational, racial, religious and ethnic diversity. Westerville’s intent to be a leading community of inclusion and equity in Central Ohio will be led in part by the individuals who hold these positions. They are also expected to provide a level of coordination among the programs and services provided by the City of Westerville, Westerville Public Library, Otterbein University, Westerville City Schools, Westerville Area Chamber and other nonprofit and service organizations.
In its municipal government capacity, the City of Westerville adopted a diversity action plan more than 10 years ago to build public awareness, staff support and opportunities in recruitment, partnerships and public spending. In the last three years, work was paired with legislative action, including Non-Discrimination and Ethnic Intimidation and Source of Income Discrimination Ordinances adopted by Westerville City Council. WeRISE - or Westerville for Racial Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice Engagement - for Greater Westerville was established earlier this year to shape and centralize existing and new community programs in diversity, inclusion and equity.
